DRAMA QUEENS
IMPROV COLLECTIVE

Drama Intensive (2)_edited.jpg

Yes, we’re making it all up. Based in Charlotte, NC, and coached by Karla Dingle, Drama Queens Improv Collective brings bold characters, complicated relationships, and big energy to monthly performances at Comedy Arts Theater of Charlotte (CATCh) and around Charlotte. Our shows mix humor, heart, and a little “Good Trouble,” with stories that give you something to laugh about—and maybe something to feel. Two new teams, Queen-ish and Big Comedy Energy, make their debut in 2027.

We also take that energy on the road!! Queen City Comedy’s travel team is called Drama Queens and features performers from Dingle Drama Repertory Company, Pillow Talk and Neighborhood Improv. We bring our acting chops, trust our instincts, and follow the story wherever it takes us. Expect grounded scenes, fearless choices, and characters you’ll want to spend a little more time with.

The travel team has performed at the Dramatic Improv Festival in Chicago, Happy Valley XL Fest, the Asheville Improv Festival, Secret City Improv Comedy Festival, New South Comedy Festival, Royal Improv Festival, and the first ImprovCon in San Diego in August 2026. Pillow Talk Improv

Started in January 2025, Pillow Talk brings actors and improvisers together to create theatrical improv filled with complicated relationships, vivid characters, and moments that matter. Their forms include The Bedroom, a deconstruction built around a full bed onstage; Bedside Manor, a medical drama full of high stakes and human connection; and Our House, a multigenerational form taking place in one home. Grounded in strong acting and close ensemble work, they give their characters room to be funny, messy, vulnerable, and fully human. The team welcomed new members in May 2026.

Cul-de-Sac Improv

Cul-de-Sac Improv brings actors, improvisers, and comedians from across Charlotte together to explore relationships and drama in close quarters—what happens behind closed doors and what we choose to show the world. Their forms include The Neighborhood, which moves between private and public moments; The Family Sitcom; and their newest form, The Event, which explores a shared event through different points of view. With grounded characters, humor, and heart, the ensemble digs into the secrets, connections, and complications of sharing space, history, and a little too much of each other’s business. The team welcomed new members in July 2026.

Big Comedy Energy

Coming January 2027, Big Comedy Energy brings together energetic, comedic performers with experience in improv or acting.
